Hi, I'm Mak. I'm a leadership coach for new managers who knows what it's like to be filled with overwhelm, self-doubt and terror that I’d let everyone down. My Story
Learn how to delegate with confidence, navigate those tricky conversations (even for introverts!), and finally stop relying on Google to do your job.
No but really. This is the kinda content that’s actually healthy to binge. In fact, you become more of an awesomesauce manager with every video you watch.
In speaking to and getting to know other awesome leaders, one of the common threads that they all have is that they read. Reading in general is very important for our growth and development. But I think it is especially important when you are responsible for others.
In one of my videos I discussed that mindset is a crucial first step to adjust when you transition from individual contributor to manager. I know that for myself what helped shape my mindset was not just speaking to mentors and observing good leaders, but reading books for new managers. I found that these books for new managers such as myself helped to guide me and opened my eyes to things that I wasn’t aware to before. Essentially it allowed me to gain perspective.
Now I do want to say that like most other things, leadership is something that you learn through your experience. BUT, books can certainly help you make that experience a bit easier.
In today’s episode of MakTV I will be sharing a few books for new managers that I believe every new manager should read. They are going to be a little different than the typical lists out there. But I strongly believe these books will get you thinking right – which to me is the key to your success.
Let’s dive right in!
