Hi, I'm Mak. I'm a leadership coach for new managers who knows what it's like to be filled with overwhelm, self-doubt and terror that I’d let everyone down. My Story
Learn how to delegate with confidence, navigate those tricky conversations (even for introverts!), and finally stop relying on Google to do your job.
No but really. This is the kinda content that’s actually healthy to binge. In fact, you become more of an awesomesauce manager with every video you watch.
A couple weeks ago I posted a video about the introverted leader. It was super fun to do! But then some of you lovely extroverted leaders reached out to me to be like…. but what about us?
That’s a great point!
So because you are also awesome, I wanted to do another video to cover some of the reasons that make YOU an incredible leader as an extrovert.
I’ll also be discussing how you can leverage your unique skills to really leverage your natural talents in order to take your leadership capabilities to the next level.
But first, to really help you stand out in your new role I highly recommend downloading the New Manager Starter Kit. A free downloadable interactive guide to help you show up and stand out and take the right action steps.
Interpersonal skills are a must have in the workplace whether you are a leader or not.
That ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a positive way that builds rapport, and influence though is particularly important as a leader.
I mean if you want people to follow your lead, you have to be able to connect with them, earn their trust and respect in order for them to want to follow you.
So as a person that gains your energy from being around people, something like this comes naturally to you which is great!
As a manager, leadership presence which is basically your ability to command a room, share thinking and opinions with confidence, as you can imagine is really important.
Management as you know, has its fair share of decision making.
In fact, decision making is a vital skill of leadership.
Now, since extroverted leaders naturally have the personality style that likes to take action, you are the type of person that will be ready to take decisive action when necessary.
As you can see extroverted leaders inherently have incredible strengths that will help you to be exceptionally effective.
But just like the introvert, you have to learn how to leverage that to your advantage.
If you sense that you are an extrovert by nature I encourage you to look into some of your strongest assets and think about ways that you can use those strengths on a day to day basis.
For example, since you gain energy from being around people, and you’re leading a team, then it might be a good idea for you to marry the two together.
Look for ways to connect with the team perhaps by organizing team building exercises and activities that will strengthen your bond and trust with each other.
Disclaimer:
Like I said in my introvert video, I am in no way saying that one style is better than the other.
My goal here is to help you see what you got so that you can use it to your advantage, so that you can feel more confident about being who are authentically within your leadership.
